The 2013 'Esprit de Tablas' is a stunning wine from Tablas Creek. This vintage they elected to blend 40% Mourvèdre with 28% Syrah, 22% Grenache and 10% Counoise. Needing more than one hour of air contact, this initially aromatically reticent wine moves to vivid aromas of black plum, smoked pork shoulder, creosote, black cherry and black raspberries. On the palate there are beautifully concentrated flavors of black cherry, black olive, roasted dates and blackberry compote. This is silky and well structured with notable depth and a wonderful seamless quality. Give this beauty another year in the bottle to fully integrate. (Best 2017-2027) - April, 2016 (OB)
