The 2012 'Annum' is a spectacular wine from David Ramey. It is composed of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Cabernet Franc from Oakville, 82.5%; Mt. Veeder, 14%; St. Helena, 2% and Rutherford, 1.5%. This deep, powerful wine opens with seductive aromas of black cherries and currants, followed by crème de cassis, graphite, anise, mocha, sweet spices and a touch of spring floral which all come together beautifully. On the palate this shows remarkable concentration and density, with layers of ripe dark fruits cascading on to the finish, where they linger on and on. Although very impressive and nearly impossible to resist today, this has an even better future in store and will ultimately be best after a some cellaring. 675 cases made.
