The 2011 Tenuta delle Terre Nere 'Guardiola' is a blend of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio from soils composed of Grey/black volcanic sand, basaltic pebbles, a touch of ash and is grown at the highest in elevation of all the Crus from Terre Nere, ranging from 800 to almost 1,000 metres altitude. It is elegant and refined with gorgeous aromas of bright cherries, wild berries, tar, dusty minerals and ash which are all wrapped in beautiful floral notes. This has an amazing structure and ultrafine tannins that are firm and tightly wound. It shows wonderful purity of fruit, plenty of depth with an amazing long, beautiful finish that carries on and on. Marco DeGrazia has done an unbelievable job with his 2011 Crus, and this one could be the best of all, but that's just too hard to say, because they are all simply outstanding. (Best from 2015-2030) - September, 2013 (JD)
