The 2021 'Hillside' Proprietary Red from Zakin is fantastic. It instantly impresses as it opens to stunning aromas of ripe black currants and black cherries which are laced with nuances of fresh violets, sweet spices, tobacco, savory herbs and hints of earthy minerals that all take shape as this unwinds in the glass. This continues to impress as it displays a gorgeous full body that is impeccably structured and beautifully balanced, showing just enough acidity to provide a wonderful sense of freshness. Layered and concentrated, this is an sensational wine from Zakin that is excellent today, but should have an even brighter future ahead.
