The 2017 'The Archimage' Red is a sensational showing. Composed of 52% Cabernet Franc and 48% Merlot, this begins with striking aromatics of ripe blackberries, green herbs, dark currant and cassis which are followed by layers of graphite, tobacco, and scorched nuances that all take shape. On the palate this has a medium-plus body, with notable concentration and balance. There are delicious flavors of dark berries, herbs and earth along with dried spice, tobacco and dark chocolate. It goes on to impress as it remains focused with wonderful poise through the long finish. This is an exceptional wine that is fantastic now, but should become even more compelling with some additonal bottle age.
