Sourced from Sage Ridge and Tench Vineyard, the 2017 ‘Janeen’ is a simply gorgeous showing in this vintage. It opens to striking aromatics of fresh blackcurrants and black cherries which are woven together with cigar box, dark chocolate, spices and hints of licorice which all burst from the glass. The palate is full-bodied with a rich supple texture and a wonderful voluptuous mouthfeel that is framed by gorgeous underlying acidity that provides an incredible sense of freshness lasting all the way through the long opulent finish. Overall this is an utterly delicious bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from PerUs that is absolutely amazing to approach in its youth, however it also has the potential to age with long-term cellaring.
