The 2014 Brunello di Montalcino from Casanova di Neri is absolutely fabulous. In 2014 Giacomo and Giovanni Neri decided to include all the fruit from Cerretalto and Tenuta Nuova in their normal Brunello, and it has definitely paid off, as this is one of the most successful wine from the vintage. This instantly begins to impress as it opens to pretty aromatics of dried red and dark berries, exotic spices, dried violets and smokey nuances all taking shape. On the palate this is absolutely gorgeous, silky and refined, displaying beautiful overall balance and finesse, which is backed by lovely underlying acidity that frames the satiny finish. The 2014 is already showing remarkably well, and readers will not need to wait long to fully enjoy this outstanding Brunello. While it is certainly somewhat disappointing not to see one of my personal favorite wines, Tenuta Nuova, in 2014, I absolutely love the decision and sacrifice that was made in order to achieve the best possible results given the difficult conditions of the vintage.
