WINE of the WEEK: Concha y Toro Cabernet Sauvignon Don Melchor (Private Reserve) 2007
The 2007 has to be the most delicious Don Melchor I have ever had. It is loaded with densely packed ripe black fruits, cassis, espresso, mocha, loam, tobacco and hints of bell pepper. Full-bodied with beautiful dusty, round and polished tannins that just glide effortlessly across your palate, backed by a firm structure delivering black fruits and espresso straight through the long decadent finish. This is a remarkable wine and will get even better over the next decade. 98% Cabernet Sauvignon - 2% Cabernet Franc aged 15 months in French oak. (Drink 2012-2025) - April, 2012.
