#23 - Aldo Conterno Barbera d'Alba Conca Tre Pile 2008

#23 - Aldo Conterno Barbera d'Alba Conca Tre Pile 2008

Landing in our 23rd spot is a wine from Italy's piedmont region. No, it's not Barolo or Barbaressco, but it is a Barbera d'Alba from one of Italy's top producers. At number 23 is the Aldo Conterno Barbera d'Alba "Conca Tre Pile" 2008. The “Conca Tre Pile” is a hilly area in Bussia Soprana with 45 year old vines, mainly consisting of Barbera. The wine spends a few months inside stainless steel vats, then it is transferred several times, and, consequently, it is poured into barriques made of 100% new wood where it remains for 12 months. The 2008 "Conca Tre Pile" Barbera d'Alba from Aldo Conterno is both modern and elegant with strawberry jam, juicy plum, baking spices, fresh mineral and crushed floral. This is focused with mouth-watering acidity, and soft, silky palate coating tannins. This shows remarkable cellaring potential for a Barbara and should last another decade. (Drink 2011-2021)
