Aged sur lie for 16 months and brought up in 54% new French oak the wine displays golden yellow in the glass with a green-silver rim. Delivering aromas of wild honeysuckle, D’anjou pear, toasty cloves, white tobacco leaf and dried banana this wine is an exemplary example of what Chardonnay can be from the Central Coast of California. In fact, it’s a dead-ringer for some of my favorite Grand Cru Burgundy wines at one third the price. The finish on the wine is insane and literally goes on for minutes with an interesting combination of bountiful yellow fruits, a touch of tangerine oil, dried poultry herbs, fresh sliced fennel bulb and some sea-breeze salinity. Buy a case and enjoy this wine every year for the next 12 years and see how it evolves over time. Only 13 barrels produced. Highly recommended.
