The Chanin 2018 Pinot Noir from Sanford & Benedict is an absolute knockout. This starts off with a subtle nose of strawberry, red cherries, pomegranate, violets, and spices. With some extended air contact this adds in aromas of lavender, cherry pipe tobacco, mint, baking spices, tar, cured meat, white pepper and leather. This is super elegant and layered with a core of red berries, dried spice, and wild herbs. The finish is long with tremendous precision and focus. A well-crafted Pinot from winemaker Gavin Chanin that is excellent now but will ultimately benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and should age beautifully.
